If you want to use a GamePad template, which I highly recommend for most emulators, you need to do this first before you open it.You MUST make any changes to the config OUTSIDE of the emulator or game.Just try to understand that ZSNES is not the only 'game' where you may need one or all of these so you should pay attention or maybe even bookmark this because you might need this at some point in the future. Since the overlay does not work with ZSNES, you will have to do one or two tiny little one-time setup steps here. Here is a list of what you should check to make sure all is well. Those were all solved within a few months of the SCs early wave of pre-order, of which I was a part, and I believe it was around December of that year when they were all sussed out with a few additional compatibility features.

Secondly, ZSNES works perfectly and only had issues with the SC as far back as 2015. Even RetroArch using pretty much any core is better in nearly every way and that is saying a lot because Retroarch is pretty bad at all of those things when compared to stand-alone emulators as a general rule. Well, except for BSNES but that one is a special little snowflake of an emulator. I used to use it as my only SNES emulator until I found that literally, every other emulator had surpassed it in terms of compatibility, features, ease of use and speed. ZSNES hasn't been updated in so long and is based on such an old codebase there is no reason to use it anymore. Firstly, Feesh is completely correct 100%.
